Out of Sight 1966 The ZZR Movie Car
Famous Out Of Sight 1966

The ZZR Out of Sight
show car included; in the
rare retouched pictures; it
had twenty-one weapons.
Fire came out of left the
left rear fender ; but no bullets.
It had tar and feathers, and oil
slicks, the bed has and arsenal
of weapons, rocket launchers,
machine guns, hand grenades,
and other weapons. The right
passenger side's upper wind-
shield frame had a flower pot
with sleeping powder, if you
got to close to the flower pot.
The ZZR was made from
a extra Munster Koach body
of fiberglass. The top was cut
then off, then after the first
doors, then cut after the second
doors. Next the rear of the body
was shoved forward to mesh to
the front, and the front doors.
By removing front doors with
the smaller third doors, they
could mesh them together as
one reinforced by plywood to
the back of the doors. This then
gave them a longer slender look
with the new custom body. The
frame was square tubing. The
front axle was tubular axle on
polyester tires and Rader Star
Mags with right Rader Knock-
offs. The body was channeled
over the frame, which means, it
was lowered over the frame and
tilted down and then bolted into
place. A tall fiberglass scoop was
made over the cowl area. The top
was made of steel, which wrapped
around the back like a Model T,
but had two port holes on both
sides of the top with silver rings,
The flat top was squared and was
gold with gold pom-poms. The
cool windshield was like the
Munster Koach, but had another
type of windshield angled at
diagonal to fit the top securely.
The engines were two 1966 Buick
Rivera 325 CID bored out to 340
CID. Each engine had one four
barrel carburetor, but the front
engine has a Cadillac air cleaner,
and is higher with it's four injector
type scoop then the rear one.
This has two radiators. The engines
are mounted tandem style. Cool
Les Thompson had engineered,
designed this marvel, which does
actually work. If you move the
gear shift forward, the second
engine will disengage. The rear
fenders are lavender from the
Munster Koach.

each engine. Then the headers
were collected into a cylinder
type pipe; which looks like a
CO 2 capsule; to move exhaust
to the rear; and cut the noise to
the engines. The ZZR also had
side hood doors; with custom
headlight shells, that served
nicely for the two radiators,
which the $1,000.00 custom
brass grill snugly fit into. The
the French headlights which
turned vertical to fit between
the front fenders. The rear mags
were thrust Rader Mags with
Rader Right Knockoffs. The rear
tires wear 15 inch Dirt Track
Micky Thompson tires. The cost
$22,000 in 1966. The engines were
painted red. Yes this car was used
in the beach movie "Out Of Sight"
The car had a Ford Econoline van
steering column, Mercury gauges,
with rectangular gas gauges that
had empty and full. Fords had two
metal coolant overflow tanks to
keep the Buick engines cool. The
rear end was a Oldsmobile to the
Buick Two-Speed Automatic
transmission. The hood ornaments
were like two sets of branches on
the custom brass grill.
The blond with black rim round
glasses was dancing on Shindig and
got the part in "Out of Sight" 1966
movie.
amt made a model kit; which is the
most valuable model kit.
Do not expect to pay less then $325
for this model kit by Barris Kustoms.
It has a high demand for collectors.
Taking on the scratch building you
need a Munster Koach body; cutting
the doors open can be done with a
X-Acto knife to scribe the lines, then
get some polyester thread to make a
miniature hacksaw handle to put this
type of thread on. Work slow until you
cut both the front doors and the third
doors open. Remember you must cut
behind the first doors; and the second
doors; Once you have cut behind the
second doors, move the third doors
forward to the second doors. You will
have to glue the back half of the body
to the front. Use Zap Kicker Glue with
ventilation or it will give you brain
damage. If you have both the front
doors and the third doors cut open,
take and cut off some Plastic Strut.
Make sure you mesh up both front
left and third doors together, make a
pattern of the door with the two on
them together. Follow this for right
front and third doors, but make a right
pattern for the two doors meshed on
right side and glue the sheet plastic
together to the two doors that become
one, as you did for the left side.

The custom headlight shells are
lavender from House Of Kolor. The
large four injector scoops are from
Revell Ford Engine Parts Packs.
You need two of these four injector
scoops from two of these.
I noticed, if you take gold thread,
serve as pom poms strings.
The balls could be those small
silicon balls, painted Testors gold,
and that gold flock, you use with
paint.
You need to make a small pick up
box from sheet plastic to finish the
body look. The fenders will have to be
drawn out, do not forget pontoons,
that hold up, the tire carriers with the
two straps painted lavender and the
large fenders.
Another thing, the car had a Ford
Econoline Van Steering Column with
Mercury gauges.
The gas gauge was rectangular, that
had Empty and Full. The car model, did
come with a four analog four cluster of
four gauges.
There were two metal tanks, which
Fords, had early 1960's,had coolant, to
add to the two radiators, to keep them
cool ,acting as a overflow to the two
radiators.
The headers, could be made from 3/32
inch tubing ,bought at airplane hobby
shops. Make sure that all four headers,
bend at a loop to go over the hood side
doors.

By the way do not forget your CO 2
capsule like pipes that go to end of the
headers to both engines. You could use,
either larger metal tubing, just a little
bigger then 3/32 inch, of Plastic Strut,
and glue a plastic ball, in the back ,and
cover with Bare Metal Chrome.
The plastic ball is use to fill that
CO 2 shape looking capsule at the back
of the car, and give that curved shape on
the back of CO 2 capsules.
The pictures to help from original
kit that might help with decal sheet. Get
yourself decal sheet for your printer to
copy these decals. Also parts of the cool
instructions, to give idea, of kit parts, the
body with scoop and chrome headers, to
copy properly. Note these decals are 1/25
but the picture has them in 1/32, enlarge
to 1/25. The Bottom picture is Fire Bug
which ruined the ZZR model by amt.
Look for the restoration of The ZZR in
about three years. The owner is going to
to a European circuit; then bring it back to
United States car shows. The new owner is
master airbrush artist, Porche', motorcycle
mechanic. He just put out his new book.

The "Out of Sight" 1966 Movie Car
"The ZRR" that marveled James Bond.
In the pick up box the driver would flip
a switch and the tailgate would fall
down,to see handgrenades, pistols,and a
rocket laucher.All four fenders shot
bullets.Then if that is not enough,the
driver paved the road with "skid juice."
Lastly there was tar and feathering
your foes.
"The ZZR" was made from a extra
Munster Koach body.It was cut at the
top,and behind the and behind the first,
and second, doors.Then the front doors
were removed.Next the whole rear body
was moved forward, to line up with the
front of the body.By using the front
doors with the third doors,they could
measure how long the new door openings
would be.They used these doors,and
reinforced them with plywood.Then they
were hinged.to the body.The body was
channeled over the custom square tubular
frame.The cowl recieved a custom tall
scoop in the middle.The rear fenders
were purple from the Munster Koach
body.The long stretched fenders had
pontoons that were supported to hold
the weight of the fenders,and the two
tire carriers.The long stretched lower
side doors, fit perfectly into the shells
that covered the headlights from
France turned vertcal.Then the radiator
shell of brass which cost $5,000 to
make fit snugly into place.The top
was made of steel with two port holes.
Chrome port hole frames to secure
the port hole windows.Then top had
Gold Naugahyde tuck and roll added.
There were yellow fringes added
around the top.The windshield frame was
simular as the Koach's windshield frame,
but a diagonal frame had to be moved to
a diagonal position,to fit into the custom
top.The engines were two Buick 425 CID
bored out to 440 CID.Each engine had two
four barrel carburaters,but the front engine,
had a Caddy air cleaner,and then,both had
four injector large scoops.The valve covers
were chrome.The headers were like zoomy
headers,run through,a cylinder tube,which
looks like a long CO2 cartridge,to feed the
exhaust gasses,and also the loud noice from
the engine out back.The front torque tube
axel,helped with supporting the weight,of
the two heavy engines.The Radir StarMags
gave it sex appeal up front.Along with wider
fifteen inch tires, for support.While behind,
the Radir Three Rib Mags on cool dirt track
Micky Thompson tires gave it the bite it the
needed to speed from their enemies,who were
after them.If someone came on the right side,
where the flower pot was,then they would get
sleeping powder,to give them a nap.The rear
end was a Oldsmobile,and The ZRR cost
$22,000 to make in 1966.A coolcar,to attract
woman,surfers,musicians,and also your foes.
This also came a model kit by AMT.
Ebay will charge no less then $325.00 to buy
one,as they are in high demand,and the lab that
makes the models for Round 2,said it cost too
much money to recrearte this kit,so expect to
pay the price,for the famous movies car The
ZRR.
